Tom is a 26 year old Transport Planner from Wakefield and on the 11th August 2014 he will set off from the Docks of Liverpool to run 6 marathons in 6 days. The full 165miles / 265km will take Tom to Spurn Point on the east coast.
So far, Tom has trained 600 hours, lost 18lbs and changed his lifestyle completely all in the aid of raising £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
After losing his Mum to Cancer at the age of 13, Tom started to raise money and involve himself in large scale charity events to support Macmillan. His Coast 2 Coast adventure will be his final big event and plans to finish on a high.
Macmillan Cancer Support started in 1911 and is now the largest Cancer Support charity in the UK. They are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need.
It’s not only patients who live with cancer, they also help carers, families and communities.
Nearly half of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetimes, which means the need for Macmillan work is set to increase dramatically. Today, 2 million people in the UK are living with Cancer, by 2030 this will have increased to 4 million.
Thanks to their loyal and committed supporters, over 98% of Macmillan’s income in 2013 came from voluntary donations and fundraising. Inspirational people like Tom make their work possible.
Euramax have sponsored Day 6 of Tom’s journey - the final leg from Hull to Spurn Point covering 30 miles and he is encouraging everyone to join him on his journey. Plenty of people will be running with Tom to show their support - whether its 100m or a full day it would be great to get as many people involved as possible.
If you’re not a runner you could cycle, any form of support on the day will be appreciated by Tom, his support team and Macmillan. If you are interested in joining Tom, please get in touch with him via his website.
All of Euramax Solutions Limited are fully behind Tom and know that he can successfully complete the 6 marathons in 6 days. Please read more about Tom’s story, follow his progress and donate via his just giving page - any size of donation will help Tom reach his goal of £20,000.
We are excited to announce that on the 1st July 2014 Ellbee Limited changed it’s company name to Euramax Solutions Limited. Our new name reflects our ambition to continually improve and be an innovative, market-leading company within our chosen sectors.
As a business we are working together to improve on our already impressive catalogue of products, service offering and accreditation library. Euramax Solutions Limited is a positive change for us and a sign to our current and future stakeholders that we are making positive changes internally.
We are also pleased to be tying into a global brand and strengthening our connection with Euramax International and our sister company Euramax Coated Products. We are proud to be part of Euramax and this is a great way to shout about it.
Euramax Solutions Limited is an exciting next step for us which will help drive us, our customers and our suppliers towards collaborative success.
Euramax Solutions Ltd has been awarded the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) Accreditation, as we demonstrated compliance with, and sound management of current health and safety legislation.
CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK and is a founder member of Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP). Assessing a supplier’s health and safety competence can be lengthy and time consuming for all parties involved - our CHAS status allows us to reduce this workload for CHAS buyers and improve efficiencies, reducing time and resources needed at both ends.
CHAS assessed our health and safety policy statement, our organisation for health and safety and ensured our health and safety arrangements are to a standard acceptable to CHAS buyers and others. Being CHAS accredited (and not forgetting our BSI OHSAS accreditation) demonstrates our compliance and commitment to health and safety.
CHAS is the latest addition to our already impressive list of accreditations -
ISO 9001-2008 -
A system to continually monitor and manage quality across all operations. It is the world’s most widely recognised quality management standard, ensuring consistent performance and service and improving operations at all levels. This shows our continuous commitment to quality.
ISO 14001-2004 -
An internationally accepted standard outlining how to put an effective environmental management system in place, allowing us to remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities. This ensures we meet customer expectations of corporate responsibility as well as legal requirements.
BS OHSAS 18001-2007 -
An international standard setting out the requirements for occupational health and safety management, bringing all relevant controls and processes into one management system. This helps us to create the best possible working conditions in our organisation and to meet legal, industry and customer requirements.
BSI Kitemark -
This is one of the most recognised symbols of quality and safety and offers true value to consumers, businesses and procurement practices. Having a BSI Kitemark associated with a product or service confirms that it conforms to a particular standard, once again strengthening our commitment to quality.
Wickes are well known for their fund raising and we were delighted to be approached by Kim Storey, store manager at Warrington, to be the official sponsors of the first Wickes Charity Golf Event.
The sun was out in full force as the day started with each golfer receiving a goody bag put together by the organisers of the event, Andrew Murray Golf. In a bid to raise some more money, our Euramax representatives ran a quick competition ‘If the key fits’ which went down a storm. The game was simple, we had a door and 44 keys – 4 keys worked but 40 didn’t. ‘If the key fits’ generated a lot of interest and within the space of 15 minutes we had raised over £60 for the charity.
That wasn’t the only Euramax competition running. The thirteenth hole gave each golfer the chance to win a brand new Euramax conservatory, a hole-in-one was all that was needed to win! Although some came close (and others gave an Oscar winning performance to pull our leg!) no one was successful on the day.
The sixteenth hole hosted Paul Barrington, former World Trick Shot and British Long Drive Champion, providing a fantastic atmosphere and raising even more money for the charity.
The day was finished off with a fantastic trick show by Paul Barrington, a buffet and an awards ceremony, hosted by Andrew Murray and Wickes Managing Director Simon King. The awards included best score, longest drive and the four winners from the Euramax competition ‘If the key fits’.
The focus of the day was never far from everybody’s minds with subtle reminders of Wickes’ charity partner, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, scattered around the event. Around 30,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancers such as leukaemia in the UK every year. Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers and need to raise £100 million over the next five years to continue its life-saving research into better diagnosis, treatments and cures.
Wickes Baguley Store Manager Kevin O’Rourke has since informed us this will now become an annual event. Kevin commented "The event was a fantastic success and the feedback has been that the day was thoroughly enjoyable. We raised a lot of money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research as well as meeting colleagues and suppliers."
Kevin also added "Thank you to Euramax for helping to raise money and make the day a success, hopefully the first event is a stepping stone to making a bigger and even more successful event next year."
Wickes’ first ever charity golf event raised £6,000 in ticket sales alone, this figure will only increase after the extremely generous donations made on the day. All of us at Euramax are proud to have been a part of a day that was full of laughs, donations and great competitive spirit.
Euramax Commercial Manager Mark Evans said "We were delighted to sponsor the Wickes Warrington golf day, in support of their chosen charity, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. These sort of events cement our excellent business relationship and in Kim Storey, we have a store manager who is committed to working with suppliers to continue mutual development of our brands. The event was well attended, fostered existing and new business contacts and was enjoyed by all who took part".
Euramax would like to thank Wickes, Andrew Murray Golf and Paul Barrington for a fantastic day.
Mandale Homes, a housebuilder specialising in building inspiring luxury homes across the UK, began the Loxley Meadows site in 2013.
The development of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses is situated in Loxley, a village and suburb of the city of Sheffield which stretches alongside the River Loxley. The picturesque setting had a significant impact on the design and style of the windows and doors specified for the homes on this project.
The brief was simple, the windows and doors needed to complement the surrounding scenery and established housing whilst also providing the low maintenance and energy efficiency benefits new homeowner’s desire.
Working closely with the team on the specification, we used mock sash horns and Georgian bars to provide the aesthetics of a traditional property with the benefits of a modern window. A historic myth of uPVC products is that they can’t match the appearance of their timber counterparts or mimic the traditional look needed to complement certain properties. Euramax uPVC windows and doors offer a wealth of options, including details such as mock sash horns and ‘Cottage Bars’, to replicate the most traditional of styles.
At Euramax we are extremely proud of our products, and equally so of our customer service team. When we were informed of specification changes at very short notice, our team worked closely with the client to deliver rapid response times and the assistance needed to ensure following trades were not delayed and costs incurred.
Simon Allport, the Site Manager for the Loxley Meadows site said “The windows and doors were delivered in a timely manner and were of high quality. Euramax was always quick to respond to changes of specification and snagging issues, its customer service cannot be faulted. For example, each Bay Window was site measured to ensure an accurate, on time, installation on Art Stone sills.”
Simon also added “Although there were a few teething problems, as there always is with new supplier and customer relationships, we were extremely satisfied overall and have used Euramax, and intend to do so, on other developments.”
Ian Wiggins, Euramax’s National Sales Manager for New Build Construction, worked on the project and commented “We aim to complement our market leading product offering with exemplary customer service so I am delighted to hear Simon’s comments and look forward to working with Mandale Homes in the future.”
